Privacy policy

Last updated 16 October 2026

This policy explains what information NYTDigits.org collects when you play, how it’s used, and the choices you have. The short version: there are no accounts, and your game progress stays on your own device.

1. Information we collect

You don’t need an account or sign-up to play. We don’t ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.

2. Data stored on your device

Your puzzle progress, your current Unlimited set, your rating and your settings (such as dark mode) are saved in your browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us. Clearing your browser data resets it.

3. Player counts and ratings

The number of players shown each day and the star rating are anonymous totals kept by the free Abacus counting service (abacus.jasoncameron.dev). When you finish your first puzzle of the day, rate the game or tap a share button, the site adds one to a counter. No name, account or game details are sent, although, like any web request, the service can see your IP address and browser type.

4. Third-party services

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address and browser details when the page loads. Share buttons only open X, Facebook, WhatsApp or Reddit when you tap them. Like most websites, our hosting and content delivery providers keep short-lived server logs for security. If we add analytics or advertising in future, we’ll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

5. Sharing your results

When you tap Share, a short summary of your stars is copied to your clipboard or passed to your device’s share sheet. Nothing is shared unless you choose to post it.

6. Children

NYTDigits.org is suitable for all ages. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

7. Your rights

Because your game data is kept on your device, you can view or delete it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for nytdigits.org.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
